Walking on the street in Indonesia just like a nightmare, except if you take a walk in a center of government houses, usually they provide appropriate space for pedestrian. But in other part of Indonesia? Prepare for the worst as a pedestrian.
In London, almost all of the road has pedestrian space. Sometimes pedestrian space wider than vehicle ones. And nowadays, London is still working to improve their pedestrian crossings. Thumbs up.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia.
The people are just too busy to criticize the importance of religion column in identity card. Make proud of their own personal business with God, while other country busy in improving their public facilities.
Sometimes I hear this short and a little too superficial statement,”Buat apa jauh-jauh ke luar negri kalo di negri sendiri ada.” (What for, travelling overseas if we can find it in our own country).
So, if our country has that kind of luxurious, why we still left behind from others?
What makes other country more comfort to visit rather than our travel object?
If you are an Indonesian, just go to other city or other part in Indonesia, be a traveler in your own country, and feel that feeling, how difficult to be a stranger without any clear guidelines.
Going overseas will open our mind, and make us realize, how low our people level to understand and respect differences.
